Sex In The Cinema Series

What is it?

OSHPP sponsors free screenings of popular films each quarter that have storylines involving sex and/or gender issues. We started the series in Fall 2002. We pose questions to the audience before the film starts to increase awareness of sexual harassment and gender discrimination issues. We always make sure the audience knows where OSHPP is located. Our Sex in the Cinema series received national attention in the Swank Motion Pictures Promotion News You Can Use in Spring 2006.

Why have it?

The films provide a forum for OSHPP to advertise its resources to a large group of people and to explore sexual relationships and gender roles. We select comedies, dramas, or action/adventure films. Some of the films contain gender stereotypes and inappropriate sexual behavior. The series is an entertaining way to focus on the serious subject of sex discrimination.
